Large Sand Mold Layered Forming Device 'SCM-1800'

Approximately 18 seconds of molding speed per layer! Not only aluminum, but also high-melting metals such as cast steel and cast iron can be poured!

The "SCM-1800" is a large sand mold additive manufacturing device suitable for the production of main molds and cores, boasting a build speed of approximately 18 seconds per layer, from prototyping to mass production. This product achieves high dimensional accuracy and can create molds as thin as approximately 2mm, allowing for pouring not only aluminum but also high-melting metals such as cast steel and cast iron. Additionally, the data interface adopts STL, enabling 24-hour automation without the need for manual labor or skilled techniques during the manufacturing process. 【Features】 ■ Build speed of approximately 18 seconds per layer ■ Large size capable of producing both single prototypes and mass production items (Build space: 1800×1000×750mm) ■ Utilizes dry artificial sand (CCS) and recycles uncured sand repeatedly ■ No need for post-processing such as heat treatment at room temperature; molds can be used immediately after sand removal ■ No need for wooden or resin mold production → No skilled techniques required for sand mold manufacturing *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Understanding through Video: A Grand Reveal of the Mold Manufacturing Process Using Metal 3D Printers!

[With Video!] A mold with efficient cooling channels that enables high-cycle molding! Special reveal of the manufacturing process using metal 3D printers and 5-axis machining!

Metal additive manufacturing (metal 3D printing) is a technology that produces shaped objects by irradiating metal powder with a laser to melt and solidify it. By layering metal powder in micron-order thickness, it is possible to obtain dense and high-precision objects. A wide range of products can be manufactured, from large components up to 250×250×H325mm to small precision parts. We accommodate various needs from prototyping to mass production. The advantage of metal additive manufacturing is its high design freedom! For example, cooling channels in molds can be designed freely without considering the processing methods. However, the downside is that the layering pitch in microns results in longer manufacturing times. To address this, we propose a hybrid manufacturing approach where we directly build on a base made through machining! Parts that can be manufactured through machining are created separately, and only the complex flow path sections are made using metal additive manufacturing, which can reduce processing time by about 30% for mold components, for example. Additionally, it is also possible to remove unnecessary parts of existing components through machining and add new structures using metal additive manufacturing!

Inkjet-type sand mold additive manufacturing device 'SCM-800II'

Direct molding of sand molds from 3D CAD data! No wooden patterns needed, resulting in higher quality and shorter delivery times compared to traditional methods.

The "SCM-800II" is an inkjet-based sand mold additive manufacturing device that can accommodate complex shapes with undercuts. It achieves stable dimensional quality through high-precision molding and dramatically shortens construction time through high-speed molding. Additionally, the recoat sand used in this product is dry sand, which can be reused as is without hardening, known as "Catalyst Coated Sand (CCS)." 【Features】 ■ Free design that integrates complex shapes without the need for division ■ No need for mold division and high precision in thin walls ■ Reduces the number of cores and shortens the time required for prototyping ■ Binder jetting method using an inkjet head ■ Proposes improved productivity and reduced running costs with the new technology sand for sand mold 3D printers, "CCS."

Direct sand casting from 3D CAD data

Rapid production of prototype development products with short lead times and low costs! Sand mold production using a rapid sand mold printing and layering device.

Tomco partners with cooperating companies to provide a consistent process from material production to processing completion, and we also assist in the production of prototypes. In traditional methods, a wooden mold was required before creating a sand mold. However, Tomco and its partner companies have made it possible to directly create sand molds from 3D data using RP sand mold printing and layered manufacturing equipment. We have reduced manufacturing costs to half of the traditional methods and significantly shortened manufacturing days. Since wooden molds are not needed, we have established a system that can flexibly respond to design changes and other needs. 【Features of RP Sand Mold Printing and Layered Manufacturing】 ■ No wooden molds required; sand molds can be created directly from 3D data ■ Shortened manufacturing days, leading to cost reduction ■ Flexible response to design changes *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
